Greenvale in the community
Here at Greenvale we encourage our employees to spotlight local groups and charities worthy of consideration for support from the company. Local agricultural shows provide Greenvale with an opportunity to promote potato usage by engaging with the end user
Each year Greenvale, in conjunction with AHDB, participates in the Grow Your Own Potato campaign, helping to educate schoolchildren on how to grow potatoes and the value of a healthy diet. With almost 1 million primary school children signing up to the initiative, we enjoy visiting some of the local primary schools each year to help them with harvesting the potatoes and talking to them about the importance of health and nutrition.
We also attend the Children’s Countryside Day ran by the Glendale Agricultural Society which sees over 1500 children aged between 5 and 9 from 38 schools across North Tyneside and Northumberland engage with local companies to learn about various rural issues and the importance of healthy eating.
Supporting the local economy
We look to use local suppliers wherever possible and give them a fair opportunity to tender for contracts with us. We look favourably on local suppliers and the services they provide and recognise our responsibility to the community as a major local business. We promote our local suppliers whenever we can.
